Student Registration
PLEASE READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE COMPLETING THE FORM AND UPLOADING THE ABSTRACT.
Deadline: Friday, February 15, 2008
All student presenters must register using the Registration Form. Once you click the "register" button a second screen will appear to allow you to browse for and upload your abstract. You are encouraged to use this Abstract Template when developing your abstract.
You must upload the abstract during the initial registration. You will not be able to go back into the system and upload the abstract at a later date. If you have to resubmit an abstract, you will be required to resubmit your registration. Please notify Tracey Nally, nally@hope.edu if you plan to do so.
Sample Abstracts are provided.
Required Abstract Format:
- WORD document
- Times New Roman 12 pt (We've discovered most of the campus computers do not have Helvetica 12 pt so the font has been changed to Times New Roman. If you have already submitted your abstract, you do not need to resubmit)
- Single space
- no justification
- Line width: 6 ½ inches
- up to 300 words
- name of “external” funding source(s) two lines below the abstract. (no abbreviations)
- save file name using last names of all student presenters
Abstract Heading Instructions
- Line 1: Student Author name (s) – Bold font. Capitalize 1st letter of first/last names. Separate multiple authors by comma. The word “and” should be used before the last name.
- Line 2: Faculty Mentor name (s) – Capitalize 1st letter of first/last name. Include professional title (ie. Dr./Professor). If multiple mentors with same title, use a plural “Dr’s” at the beginning of the line.
- Line 3: Department name (s) - type “Department of …..”
- Line 4: Title – Bold font. Capitalize 1st letter of each main word.
- Two lines below the abstract: External funding source - If applicable. No abbreviations.
Poster/Presentation Type
One student from each project must notify Tracey Nally (nally@hope.edu) by Feb 15 of the type of display board/table and any audio/visual needs they will need. Choose from the following:
1. Large poster
Up to one 4’ x 4’ poster to be displayed on 1/2 of one side of a two-sided display board, without table.
2. Small Poster
Printed power point slides or own design to be displayed on a tri-fold cardboard table top display board (dimensions: 48" x 36" (2ft center width, 1ft sides) , with table.

Item to be displayed on a table (3’ section of 6’ table)
4. Other

Wednesday March 26 Luncheon
Please RSVP by Friday March 14 to Tracey Nally, nally@hope.edu or X7316, if you will be attending the Research Celebration presenter/faculty mentor recognition luncheon in Maas Auditorium, Noon - 1pm. The luncheon is provided by the College to thank the student presenters and faculty mentors of their diligent work on their collaborative research and creative projects for 2007. The main course will be meat lasagna. If you have special dietary needs, include it in your rsvp.
Faculty Authorization
Faculty mentors must print a hard copy of the Faculty Authorization Form (one per project) and complete, sign and mail to Tracey Nally in the Provost office by February 15.
